In February 2024 I flew to Georgia from Istanbul. If I'm not mistaken, at that time there were only a few flights to Georgia from Istanbul and I really didn't like the flight times. My flight was around 12pm Istanbul time and arrived in Tbilisi, Georgia around 2am. After leaving Tbilisi Immigration, I decided to relax in an airport coffee shop while waiting for the departure time for the airport bus to Tbilisi city center.
The bus operation starts around 7 am, to use the bus we can use a debit card from Visa or Mastercard. So there was no need to spend cash, although still, when I arrived at Tbilisi airport I exchanged USD into Georgian currency just in case. Long story short, the bus arrived, I got on and it took me to the center of town. Honestly, it was very confusing for me when I got on the bus there. The driver didn't understand English, nor was there a station name when the bus stopped. So what I did was use Google Maps. I opened Google Maps and finally got off at the bus stop closest to my hotel.
At that time, I stayed at the Ibis Stadium Hotel. When I got off at a bus stop I didn't know the name. I used Google Maps again to go to the hotel, it was still early at around 8 am. And of course I couldn't check in until around 2pm. But it doesn't matter, at least I can put my bag first and explore a little of Tbilisi while waiting for hotel check-in time.
When I arrived at the hotel, I immediately talked to the receptionist what time I could check in. he said I can start checkin from 1 pm. because it was only 8.30 in the morning so I decided to explore Tbilisi. the only thing that came to my mind at that time was "Holy Trinity Cathedral Tbilisi", after I opened Google Map, it turned out that the distance from the hotel to that place was around 5 km. Well, because I like walking, I finally decided to walk. Because the weather is cold, so I don't think it will be too tiring.
How to get to Holy Trinity Chathedral of Tbilisi?
There are several ways we can try to get to Holy Trinity Church Tbilisi:
1. Walk, if you like walking, this will be fun. because I myself walked to go to Holy Trinity Chathedral Tbilisi. During the trip, I passed many housing complexes, seeing local community activities. Admiring the beautiful buildings and cute cats that I met during the walk.
2. Subway, if you preferred using public transportation you take subway. You can tak subway from Station Square 1 and stop by Station Avlabari. From Avlabari station you walk to Holy Trinity for about 8-10 minutes.
3. Bus, another options you can choose is bus. You can take Bus line 323 then you drop by House of Justice. Unfortunately from House of Justice you still to walk around 1,5 km.
4. Taxi or Online Taxi. During my trip in Georgia, I preferred using Bold and Yandex, they are online taxi which operating in many countries including Georgia. By using Bold or Yandex we can know the fix price, and based on my experience Yandex is cheaper than Bold.
If you are a Christian, of course you can pray here. Because I'm not a Christian, when I visited Holy Trinity, I just enjoyed the view of the very beautiful church building. Coincidentally, when I was there, there was a little snow, so the weather was very cold. but I like it, because the weather in my country is not this cold during snow or winter. When visiting this place, of course I spent it taking some photos. because this place is so beautiful. I really like the building, starting from the front building to the church building itself. Apart from taking some photos, I also reflected a lot on this place. I don't know why, but with the cool air and beautiful buildings, it feels very suitable for contemplating life.
